Tile and Waterproofing
Tile and Waterproofing in Lakewood
Tile is the part of a bathroom people see, and waterproofing is the part that decides whether the job lasts. Nexusphiladelphia sets porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone over cement backer board with a bonded waterproof membrane, thinset, and grout, all installed to TCNA Handbook methods and the ANSI A108 series. A shower tiled this way on Faculty Ave will still be dry years later.
Why Waterproofing Matters
- It is where showers fail. Water that gets behind unsealed tile rots framing and grows mold. A bonded membrane over backer board stops it at the surface.
- Slope sends water to the drain. A correctly preslope-ed pan means no standing water and no slow leak into the floor below.
- The right materials for wet areas. We use cement board rated to ANSI A118.9, not ordinary drywall, behind every shower wall.
Our Process
We set backer board, bond and flood-test the waterproofing, and confirm the pan slope before a single tile goes up. Then we lay out the tile so the cuts fall in the least visible spots, set it in the correct thinset, and finish with a clean, sealed grout line.
