For nearly 35 years, NEXUS foundation for today’s art has been the premier platform for experimental art in Philadelphia, offering you FREE access to gallery shows, live performances, education and community events that showcase the creativity of its members.

Many of you have enjoyed this year’s FREE art:
• Toyland…an exploration of photography created with simple, whimsical toy cameras.
• Yummy, which showcased the artists’ interpretation of desire and included free cooking demonstrations.
• The world premier screening of “Wanna Kiss Myself” by artist member J. Makary.
• Dance Performances by Jil Stifel, Paul Struck, and Zornitsa Stoyanova.

We also offer FREE gallery space to our neighborhood partners the Goodlands summer photography program for youth from North Kensington. We hold a FREEeducational workshop for Fine Arts seniors at local universities to help them make a living while continuing their passion for exploring creativity. Our NEXUSselects exhibition showcases student work and grants a cash award to the “Most Promising Senior.”

Now we are launching our first experiment into radio, transforming our gallery in the Crane Arts Building into a low-powered radio station. You can participate by signing up for a spot during our two month schedule…for FREE.

It will come as no surprise when we say that FREE art comes at a price, and we are writing to ask you to support NEXUS so that it can continue its mission to support creativity, invite curiosity, and continue a dialog about the meaning of today’s art.

Budgets are tight, and we have already felt the pinch with lower funding from State and City funders. At the same time, costs continue to rise. We all know that arts organizations are among the first to suffer when the economy struggles.

Consider making a tax-deductible donation in your favorite person’s name as a holiday gift this year. If you do, we will send you a FREE gift from one of this year’s signature events. We have some great t-shirts, cookbooks and limited edition prints that we can send as a thank-you for your generosity.
