NexusSelects: Deadline Extended to May 9th!

The sixth annual juried exhibition, held in June 2010, is open to all graduating seniors from any of the Philadelphia region’s art schools and universities. Seniors graduating in 2010, working in any medium, are encouraged to apply. This is a unique opportunity to exhibit your work in a high profi le gallery space in Philadelphia. There will be a cash prize awarded. there is NO entry fee

Paloma and Raúl in San Serriffe

Paloma and Raúl in San Serriffe, a 16mm film and an accompanying sculptural installation by NEXUS alum J. Makary will
be on view March 12 through April 4, 2010, at Powel House Museum in Philadelphia. The result of a months-long collaboration with NEXUS member and composer Michael McDermott (Mikronesia), Paloma and Raúl in San Serriffe plays with period settings and characters and has a dance in it. A free public reception opens the show on March 12 from 5 pm to 9 pm — Mikronesia performs live at 6 pm!

Paloma and Raúl in San Serriffe is an Independent Project of Philagrafika 2010, Philadelphia’s international festival celebrating print in contemporary art, and is presented by the Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks and Landmarks Exhibitions: Contemporary Projects.

Damon Reaves in Shelter

Damon Reaves is participating in Shelter at the Painted Bride in Philadelphia. In this multimedia exhibition, 17 Philadelphia artists collaborated with ten Philadelphia households, whose homes were restored by volunteers from Rebuilding Together Philadelphia. The show runs from November 4th – December 16th, 2009 with an opening reception Friday, November 6, 5:00 – 7:00. Damon will be presenting a new performance piece at 6pm during the opening. Soft Space: Architecture in Contemporary Art

Janell Olah is participating in Soft Space: Architecture in Contemporary Art as part of the Seventh Annual Curators’ Incubator Program Exhibition at Maryland Art Place. The show runs from September 15 – October 24, with an opening reception on Thursday, September 24 from 5-9, and a gallery talk on Thursday, October 8 at 6:00. Soft Space: Architecture in Contemporary Art is curated by Margaret Winslow and also includes artists Ronald Longsdorf and Stephen Ruszkowski.
