Paloma and Raúl in San Serriffe, a 16mm film and an accompanying sculptural installation by NEXUS alum J. Makary will
be on view March 12 through April 4, 2010, at Powel House Museum in Philadelphia. The result of a months-long collaboration with NEXUS member and composer Michael McDermott (Mikronesia), Paloma and Raúl in San Serriffe plays with period settings and characters and has a dance in it. A free public reception opens the show on March 12 from 5 pm to 9 pm — Mikronesia performs live at 6 pm!
Paloma and Raúl in San Serriffe is an Independent Project of Philagrafika 2010, Philadelphia’s international festival celebrating print in contemporary art, and is presented by the Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks and Landmarks Exhibitions: Contemporary Projects.

“Metanexus is multidisciplinary. Our aim is to promote collaborative research and dialogue between the arts, humanities, and the sciences within higher education. We currently have over 200 projects at universities in 42 countries. While Metanexus’ projects and The Global Spiral reach an international audience, we are locally based and hold events and lectures throughout the year for the Philadelphia region. Each monthly issue of The Global Spiral features original art in a forum that we call Visual Explorations.”
